PROGRAMS
The Graduate Program in the School is designed for a sound practical training and for advance teaching in Historic Preservation, Community Design and Visualization with excellent computational, library and workshop facilities. Studying at the Ooty School of Architecture is an excellent way to complete a professional education at the graduate level.
THE ACADEMIC PROGRAM
The Academic program is of five years divided into ten Semesters of about 90 working days each. The Programme is designed comprehensively with clear links across the simultaneous subjects as well as progressively across the years. Instruction is both in class room as well as workshop / outdoor - based as per the subject area. Related study programs such as field trips, practical experience, choice of elective subjects also form an essential part of the course.
THE CURRICULUM
The curriculum is designed to facilitate comprehensive learning in five major areas.
1. Critical Thinking:Research and Analysis in Architecture through understanding the socio–cultural context and the study of history and theory for the creation of built environment.
2. Design:The core capability to actually produce Architecture thought reflection and invention achieved through putting together various kit-of-parts with their parameters in coherent and harmonious relationships.
3. Building:The physical and technical aspects through a thorough understanding of the materials, their behavior and their adaptability to various purposes, towards conception, development and implementation in design
4.Representation: :The communication to choose the correct means, to develop a requisite skills across a wide range of media (drawing ,writing and model making) and tools (hand skill, computers and various materials).
5. Social Engagement:The ability to manage a profession to be responsible and efficient and so act not only legally and ethically but also critically and affirmatively in society.
INFRASTRUCTURE / RESOURCE CENTRE
Computer lab:We provide one computer per student for the whole program. Basic software such as AutoCAD 2004 is taught from the first year with 3D modeling. This makes the student to cope with the upcoming technology.
Library:The library has a good collection of books and we subscribe to national and international journals and periodicals to strengthen the knowledge basis. At present we have around 600 books and every year we are updating ourselves with new editions.
Internet Facility:The school has full time Internet Facility, which will help the students to upgrade the present technological developments.
ADMISSION
The School of Architecture seeks academically able students who show promise of superior creative ability. For all programs, admission is highly selective and comprehensive. MOSA admits students without regard to race, color and creed.
McGAN’S Ooty School of Architecture is affiliated to the Anna University, Coimbatore
Eligibility:Admission to Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture (B.Arch) is as per the norms of Council Of Architecture (COA) and Anna University, Coimbatore.
• Higher Secondary or 10+ 2 or equivalent with Maths, as a subject with 50% in qualifying examination.
• 10+3 Diploma (any stream) recognized by Central/State Governments
• Pass in National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA)- 80/200
NATA-Requirements:
1. 2 passport size photograph
2. 10th std.,12th std. marks cards in original
3. Photo identity card
4. Colour pencils,pen, etc.

HOSTEL
McGAN’S Ooty School of Architecture is a residential institution, provision is made to accommodate all the students admitted in the institution in our hostels. Both boys and girls have separate hostel. Hygienic vegetarian and non-vegetarian food will be served
RULES:
Turnout: Students must come to class dressed in neat and clean attire. Boys are to be clean shaven.
Ragging: In conformity with the law that has strictly banned ragging in any form, the college will enforce this rigorously. Even without any complaint, the management will take cognizance of any student indulging in this despicable practice. Such students will be summarily removed from the rolls and criminal action will be taken against them. Students are advised to take this warning very seriously.
Decorum: The College has set standards of behaviours, both in and outside the campus. It is the duty of every student to carry himself or herself with dignity reflecting the high standards of behavioural and spiritual excellence aimed at by our institution.
Unauthorised Activities: Any activity in the college premises as well as anywhere else that involves the assembly of students of this institution and any activity involving collection of any money must be undertaken only with prior written permission of the management. Organizing or participating in unauthorized activity will attract disciplinary action.
Unauthorised Membership: Membership of any association or organization unconnected with the college must be undertaken only with the written permission of the management.
Unbecoming Behaviour: Taking part in any anti-social, subversive, illegal or immoral activity will entail summary dismissal from the college. Whenever any student faces expulsion on any disciplinary ground, he or she forfeits the right to claim refund of any deposit or fees.
Undesirable Practices: Use of alcohol, tobacco or any narcotic substance in any form whatsoever is strictly forbidden within the premises. Students are also strongly advised to desist from such habits at all times.
